Our rape crisis and domestic violence advocates have completed 65 hours of intensive training to be certified by the state of California to support and advocate for survivors of sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.

Kara Samaniego
 
Kara is the Coordinator for Safer. She has been an advocate for survivors of sexual violence since 2009 and is a state-certified domestic violence and rape crisis counselor. She loves using her passion for ending sexual assault to empower, educate, and inspire other students to take action. 
 
Shelby Bachelder
 
Shelby is the Campus Advocate at Safer. She has been involved in the promotion of survivor empowerment and healing since 2012 and has completed advocacy trainings in three states, including the 65-hour state of California domestic violence and rape crisis counselor course in San Luis Obispo. Shelby enjoys encouraging students to organize within their own communities to support one another and raise awareness of gender-based violence and its intersection with other forms of oppression.
